Bargains Galore!

Everything seemed to be on sale today.  But I wasn't really looking for a sale; instead, I was looking to return a leaking kettle that I bought only yesterday to K-Mart Logan Central and then head off to Garden City and find a few things I needed to ready myself for my bed to arrive next week.

So, I left home at around 9:40am and saw some poor guy get arrested across the road by the cops.  They were parked outside the house up the road from the bus stop and I had just crossed the road when they drove off.  But it made me think:  would they stop to charge me for J-walking or not?  No, they didn't.  This was weird, but I guess they had bigger fish to fry this morning.  Anyway, when I got to the stop, one of the people there and I had a laugh about what we were both thinking with the police and if they were going to stop and charge me.  But seriously, I should have waited for them to leave before going across the road.

Anyway, the bus came, we all hopped on and it took us to the Logan Central Bus Station where most of us got off and I walked to K-Mart and got my money back when I told the lady what happened to the kettle.  She was amazed it leaked as much as it did and happily gave my money back to me.  Then, I was off to catch the next bus to Garden City and do the rest of my shopping - well the majority of it anyway.
I went to the bank first and pulled out some money and walked around to find a kettle first.  Well, do you think I could find a nice kettle which didn't cost the Earth?  Nope.  It was annoying.  I went from Robin's Kitchen to Harvey Norman and then to K-Mart and there wasn't anything I was happy with.  And on the way to Harvey Norman, the ramp escalators going up, stopped working.  There were too many heavy things on it and it shuddered to a halt; and anyone with a shopping trolley had to either wait for it to get going again or kick up their front wheels of the trolley to make it work.  Not a good thing.  So, seeing it wasn't going to work after we all got off it, I walked into shop and reported the problem to them; asking them to get maintenance out to look at it.  They weren't surprised about it and got onto them straight away.  By the time I was coming out of Harvey Norman's 10 minutes later, it was working again.

At K-Mart, I bought my mattress protector and a nice set of flannel sheets for my Queen Size bed ... and then bought plain set too just to mix'n'match; it's always nice to do that.  Anyway, I went through the self-service check-outs and found I had a lot of things and I was struggling a little with it.
I hadn't left Robin's Kitchen empty-handed, managing to buy a pizza stone and a cutter while I was there.  Not too bad if you ask me seeing they were both half price and I only paid $12.95 for both of them.  Anyway, I still had yet to buy my kettle and didn't want to leave the shopping complex without it.  So, I went to one more place upstairs and the shop assistant there told me that Big-W was the place to score a great kettle at a good price.  And that's where I found myself... Big-W.  I found a great range of kettles and scored myself a Kambrook dome kettle for a wicked $38!  Now, how cool is that?  And before I knew it, I was at their self-service check-outs and putting my new kettle through to take it home.

But I badly needed a break... a break from walking around, from looking at products, from feeling really horribly tired.  So, I made a beeline to Gloria Jean's Coffee to get myself a nice hot bagel and a hot chocolate.  And you know?  It's just what I needed.  I read a bit of a book on my iPod and relaxed in the place, ignoring the noise of the coffee machine, the people around me chatting and anything else going on at the other tables... I was having some much-needed 'me' time; and that's just priceless to have.  But before I knew it, I had to pack up my goodies so they were able to be stored on a bus and travel-ready... I had another half and hour to go before I arrived home.  And once I did, I was so very relieved to unpack my goodies, open and try out my kettle and look at what I had bought that my disappointment didn't strike until I pulled out the sheets for the Queen Sized bed.  I had one Queen Sized Sheet set and one Single Sized Sheet Set... but do you think I could find my receipt for K-Mart?  I had put it into the bag with the sheets... and the bag had bloody-well ripped.  So, the receipt has been lost, and I'm stuck with a set of flannel sheets I can't use.
Well, I might give these to my niece.  They're purple and if I remember right, this is her favourite colour!  Oh well, can't win 'em all!  But at least I know somebody who'll use them.  Until my next post, take care, keep safe and warm and remember I'm always here.

Busy, Busy, Busy!

Yeah, this week has been so busy, I just had to say it three times... heheh... just kidding.  Well, it has been really horribly busy; so much so I have barely had time to myself to do anything by crash after finishing some computer work at some ungodly hour while everyone else around my in their own units/townhouses have intelligently gone to bed!  For me, this week has been a really, very busy week; and honestly, I don't know how I'm making it through... adrenaline? Maybe, maybe not.  I'm just hoping I don't crash and burn out next week... dreadful stuff that... been there done that; never again.

Okay, let's cover what I've done this week and see what else needs to be done to finish the week off!  Then, let's see if I got in and did it all?  Now, that'll be a really good end to the week, won't it?

On Monday, I was off to my craft day from Mum and Dad's place.  Okay, this was my only 3 hours of relaxation I had this week.  By the end of me sitting there painting, I had mostly completed a small painting of a flower I took a photo of, then printed up on Dad's printer (sorry Dad, I needed something to copy off!).
That afternoon, I was doing a Writing Race I take part in on Facebook for another 3 hours!  I did take a 20 minute break in there somewhere to get a snack and a drink.  Otherwise, I was busily writing away and editing my books and stories. Phew!  And was that exhausting.
The next afternoon, I arrived home and sorted out what needed to be done for my shopping day the next day.  Then, yesterday, I went out shopping later than usual as it was cold and drizzly... I took my time and did everything I needed and bought what I wanted and needed and found my way home.  A mere hour after I arrived home, it poured rain!  How fortunate was that!
But all day, I was hearing about the murder that had occurred on streets away from where I was shopping.  It was horrible to be walking and socialising in the area where this terrible, pointless crime (but then when does crime have a point?) occurred.  When the rain poured down, I looked outside and hoped the crime scene hadn't been destroyed in any way.
Yesterday afternoon, after unpacking all my gear from shopping and putting it all away, I grabbed Season 6 of 'Supernatural' I got off layby and eagerly began preparations for a night of watching the first disk of the 22 episodes.  However, I was in for a big surprise when I found the box had locked me out!  Damn!  After calling 'Woodys' I found out I had to take it back and they'd unlock it for me.  I was bummed, disappointed and really wanted to watch it; but couldn't, not last night anyway.

Today, I was up by 8am, grabbed my laundry, a new bag, scarf and beanie and was dressed by 8:30am and ready to head out the door by 9:30am to catch the bus at 9:50am to Logan Central.  Two loads of laundry had been done and the fruit and veggie shopping had been done at The Big Apple down the road by this time; and so I left my blue trolley by the door and rushed out to catch the bus.
I arrived home at around 1pm via the 545 to Garden City, with Season 6 of 'Supernatural' now unlocked thanks to Carol at 'Woodys' and then I walked through to the chemist and bought some vitamins and some make-up and then came home.

Tomorrow, I have to put away my knitting gear I'm not currently using.  This is the big purple knitting box but not the bags which have half-finished work in them.  I also have to put away photographs, clear the lounge, put away clothes, throw out the newspapers from last week, tidy up the coffee table and then start to pack my bedroom up in preparations for cleaning it on Saturday morning.  I'm in for a busy couple of days of cleaning, tidying and packing.  The suitcases for the packing are out of the storage facility under my stairs, and so I can get it all done quickly and easily.  Now, it's a matter of figuring out what to do with the sewing machine; whether to sell it or fix it up and keep it as a working machine (as it's not electric).

So, what have you got planned for the rest of the week?  As you can see, my week is terribly busy and it's not yet over; and my weekend is horribly busy too.  Until my next post, take care, keep safe and warm and remember, I'm always here.

25 Years Since World Expo '88

It's been that long since my home city of Brisbane held this wonderful event!  I was 15 years old and in year 10 of high school.  But unlike most kids, my Mum was offered to work there and we got to see behind the scenes before the place opened!  What a great opportunity that was!
We got to see the rehearsals of the night parades, the monorail in its testing stages, meet the 'Towards 2000' cast and crew - and get autographs.  And I got to meet Bruce Paige.  This man read the news for Channel 9 here in Brisbane then and it wasn't so long ago he retired from there.  He did a piece about the monorail live from the Expo site and - just as they went back to the studio - he turned and saw us all there.  I got to shake hands with him and have a chat with him about what I wanted to do with my life.  Bruce was such a lovely person and he greet my family the same way you saw on the news, just very polite and pleasant.  I found my autograph book recently and found his autograph in it, still looking as new as it did all that time ago.  It brought back that memory so clearly.

But World Expo '88 was a time where Brisbane City itself was opened up to the world.  Our little city went from being tiny, unknown and domestic to international, a tourist attraction and 'grown-up' almost overnight.
I remember my brother and I both had 3-day passes at first.  We had both come into a little money and asked our folks if we could have season passes; which ate up the whole of the money we had coming to us.  So, Mum and Dad thought it would be a good experience for us.  And so, we got season passes; and I got in and used mine for a good part of my year 10 year.  It was wonderful and I went into Expo most days when I knew there wasn't anything really important going on at school.
I've got almost 2 passports filled up, a souvenir coin from there, photos I took of the day and night parades, photos of Oz - Expo '88's Platypus mascot - and I also got to meet K.I.T.T the car from the Knight Rider television show.  They had him on display and I just happened to join a line (which wasn't too obscure when you were around the Expo site; as there were many lines going places, you just didn't know where) and I waited around an hour to find out where it went.  By the time I found the end of it, I was looking at the car; and regretting the fact I had forgotten my camera that day!  It was one of my best memories of World Expo '88... to meet and be able to sit in the driver's seat of the famous Trans-am; the original one too!

I couldn't tell you a memory that was the best or worse, but there was a lot about Expo '88 that really did need to be experienced to understand and know it was real.  There were so many pavilions around - and the New Zealand one was the one with the longest lines for some unknown reason - but I did enjoy going there.  However, whether I went there on my own or with family, I had a good time.  It was a safe place because of how much security was around the place and that it was a friendly place to be as well.  It also proved that Brisbane had a long way to go in its growth, development and people power... and as a city, she could do it.
And you know, all these years, later, Brisbane has proven to be a city that has grown bigger than expected.  A couple of years ago, I went to see Sir James Galway in concert.  His last visit here was in 1986 - before World Expo '88 - and he told us that he stayed at the exact same hotel he did the last time he was here; but when he went for a walk, he got lost and had to ask for directions back to his hotel.  The kind people of Brisbane walked him back; and he asked what happened to our city, a lot of people in the audience called out:  'World Expo '88!'.  And you know, I think they're right.

What A Weekend!

Wow!  I feel as though I started last week, had appointments all week and didn't stop until yesterday afternoon... and now, I have time to scratch, I can catch up with my laundry, washing up and checking the mail.  And this morning, I finally caught up with two of those things - finally!
I'm so tired though.  I feel as though I could go back to bed and sleep another 6 hours.  But I won't, I'll just keep trudging along and doing what I normally do, but slower.

So, how was your weekend?  Busy as well? Or slower and more relaxed?  Mine was a bit of both, but I found it was busy on some aspects as well as being able to sit down for a while to catch my breath.

On Saturday, I watched The Hawks kick butt in Tasmania with The Dockers.  It was a great game; but the second half was brilliant!  While it going on, I make Pumpkin and Walnut Cannelloni.  Yummo!  I made sure I made a lot so I had enough for Sunday night; I knew that I'd be too tired to do anything for dinner.

Sure enough, on Sunday, it was a full day out and about.  Mum had invited me out to brunch at The Coffee Club at Stones Corner to commemorate Uncle Allan's passing away yesterday (as not everyone could make it yesterday).  Almost all of us had Eggs Benedict in some way shape or form.  I had tomato with mine, while Frank had spinach and mushrooms with his as well as salmon and other bitsAll but my cousin Kate had coffee (she had orange juice).  But we all had a lovely time talking about technology, holidays and fun times with Uncle Allan and other things too.
Then, it was time to leave.  It had gone around 11:30am and we all had to be somewhere; especially us.  So, off we all went in our own directions.  And before we knew it, Mum, Dad and I were at the Kingston Butter Factory by around 1pm.  They had spent some time talking to Uncle Iain and Aunty Narelle after brunch, so that why's it took a while to get there.  However, we made it and Mum and Dad were only going to drop me off and take off home.  But they ended up staying to see how my speech went.  I kinda fumbled my way through, but once I said I was nervous and to excuse any mistakes, I got a few laughs from saying so, and I was on my way.  A train even drowned me out a bit and I waited for it go leave!  Talk about funny!  I got them laughing in the right places and Ged thought it was a good speech too.  We finally got the book 'Nosebleed' launched and he relaunched another book - 'I Am Leather-Man' from 2001 - and everyone was happy! We stuck around for a bit and then went home.  Mum and Dad said it was a good relaxing afternoon and that my speech was a little rushed, but they thought it was funny and light.

Then yesterday, I was out the door at around 10am to catch a bus to Mum and Dad's place to attend my craft group at the Springwood Community Centre.  On the way, I picked up 2 boxes I'll be using at their place to store some stuff.  I spent my day trying out new patterns I had designed for my Crafty Pegs and finding that some of them worked out, while others didn't.  Anyway, that was my long, long weekend of a lot of things and activities.  How did you go with yours?  Was it rush, rush, rush?  Or hang out with friends and enjoy the time?  The weather was great for it wasn't it?  Until my next post, take care, keep safe and warm and remember, I'm always here.

Back Into The Swing of Things!

My house has been a right mess!  And I'm not kidding!  Over the last week, I've been battling a cold.  I caught it at my last Craft Group just before Easter, had the fever last Saturday night and have had the blocked nose, feeling yuk and broken sleep at night for the first few nights of this week.  But now, it's all going away because I'm getting better.  I ate nearly every scrap of food in my pantry (which I seem to do when I'm sick for some unknown reason) and then found after a few days that airing the house and spraying every last thing I've touched with Glen-20 was a good way to get rid of this cold.  I've also gargled with hot salty water and had a few hot showers a day to steam the virus out of me; both of which work wonders.

And now, it's a week later, and I'm back into the swing of cleaning up again.  I opened my iPod to the weekly chores list and found it all ready to use.  I put on the laundry, opened up the house and finished breakfast before getting in and making sure I had everything there to get done.
So far, the downstairs toilet has been cleaned, with new toilet paper put into the basket next to it.  The rubbish has been put out, so has last week's Sunday Mail into the bin.  I had swept the car port during the week.  Then, I borrowed the wheelbarrow and went into my back garden and pulled out all the creeper that's been invading my yard from over the fence.  I really wish the lady over my fence would take better care of her yard instead of letting it grow weeds... it looks disgusting and invades on my garden.
Once I got all my plants back in place, I added a new job to my To-Do list on my iPod - gardening - and added in the little things that may need doing around the garden each week (weeding, mowing the lawn and watering and repotting plants), so I can keep on top of the weed situation until the fences get done.   I looked at how much was done on my iPod by 10am... and there was the above and one load of laundry, which I hung out but quickly brought back in half an hour later as clouds gathered and looked like rain - and it did a few minutes after I hung the towels out on my clothes horse (how's that for timing!).

Anyway, I'm hoping to get more of my housework done and tidied up this afternoon and tomorrow as I've just begun to feel better.  The floors have to be washed, the vacuuming done and the dusting.  Then, I want to get back in and do more of the massive clean out for the last time ever... and make the house look and feel like a real home.  I want to be able to bring people back here without feeling as though it needs to be cleaned all the time.

Anyway, that's been my week... being crook with a cold and getting better.  How has your week been?  First week of school holidays and all?  Fun? Busy? Or over-run with school holiday activities?  Until my next post, take care, keep safe and warm/cool and remember, I'm always here.

Easter Long Weekend

This weekend is the beginning of the school holidays and it's also the long weekend for Easter; the time for everyone to make themselves ill on chocolate on Sunday.
However, seeing I don't work full-time or have paid employment, this is just like any other weekend; and that can get kinda boring.  So, I'm going to make sure I'm going to be very busy this weekend.  I have a suitcase to put vintage things into and part of a house to sort out.

Yesterday, I got all the banking done and finished up my veggie shopping, went to the chiropractors and found that the skirt I bought at Life Line was most probably going to fit Aunty Helen.  Oh well, there went my plans to find a long denim skirt... which I've been looking for for years.  I've loved those things for a long time.
Anyway, I dropped a bag into the guy down the road from Mum and Dad's place to get the clips fixed on it and will pick it up next Wednesday.  He and I brainstormed ideas on how to fix the clips and came up with a great idea.  I'll show you guys next week.

I had bought my 'Good Reading' Magazine and found I got a letter published in it - and this means I get 3 free copies over the next few months.  Then, I went to get myself an ice coffee and found, when I pulled out my 'Gloria Jeans' card I was up for a free coffee. How cool is that?  I was stoked to have saved myself $4.00!
I also found little bags to put some whole cloves into for the vintage suitcase to keep things out while it's storing things.  I'm hoping to store my Glo-mesh, some glasses and other little things so I can claim back some of my storage space in my duchess.  I know that sounds strange, but really I need it back as I feel as though some of my collections are taking over my bedroom; and this is why I bought that suitcase from Brighton.

Anyway, this weekend, I'm hoping to work on some writing of Fry Nelson and some vampire fiction, get some reading done, clean out the house a little, tidy up, do some painting and throw out some junk (as Mum took away all the bags next to the front door; and so I can start over again).  It sounds like a lot, and a little, but really it's just tidying up the house and vacuuming.  What are you up to over this weekend?  Until my next post, take care, keep safe and warm/cool and remember, I'm always here.

Autumn Is Here

Yes, I've found the days are short, yet hot; and the nights are warm but will cool down the later it becomes.  Autumn is here and I love it when the seasons change to the cooler months.
And yes, another week has started too.  I've got all my laundry done, the wheelie bin is almost ready to be put out, I've attended my Craft Group this week and I have my shopping day this week too.  Then, on Thursday, there's my chiropractor to go and see as well.  This is one busy week and it's barely started.  There's also the antenna people to come and fix the destroyed antenna that Mother Nature tried to rip off my town house.  And the tree out the front of my unit complex behind some of the letterboxes has some long cracks down the trunk of it and along the upper-most large branches too, so it might have to be lopped - I'm not sure; we'll have to see what the Body Corporate says first.

Anyway, it's time to get back to my life here and hopefully finish fixing up and packing up my junk from my house to either give away to charities or throw in the bin.  I still have a few bags by the front door that need delivering to a charity; then I can get more done to toss out and tidy up.  But I'm going well.

Today, I went and got all my laundry done, hung out and finished before 10am.  In between loads, I checked the mail and found a parcel I had been expecting showed up for me.  It's a necklace Kellie Smith sent me of a necklace she designed and showed us all on Facebook.  It's just lovely; and I ended up wearing it home from the post office and hanging it up on my necklace holder immediately so I could use it when I wanted to.  Very cool.

For the rest of today, not sure what I'm up to.  There's still some cleaning up to get done, washing up and other things too.  So, until my next post, take care, keep safe and warm/cool and remember, I'm always here.

This Weekend

It's not yet gone midday and I've gotten a lot done in my day.  I've got 4 loads of laundry done, the chickens have been fed and patted (to make them lay more eggs) and I've been to the store up the road to buy a paper and a few little essentials and milk.  The laundry was finished by around 10am and I'm glad it's turning out to be a hot day; as it's going to dry nicely.  I've also done a few bits of my own laundry so I don't have to do any when I get back home.

But it was yesterday that was the busiest day for me. I had a day full of visitors and they were my parents.  I haven't had people around here since Geoff and Vivenne came here with Little Zoe for dinner the week before; and so it's been very quiet here.
Dad got in and went to mow the lawn, but found there was no petrol or oil for the mower or whipper-snipper... this frustrated him as they really should have kept it up.  And the lawn mower he found didn't work properly, so he pulled the one from under the house and it worked but the catcher was small and he had to stop every now and then to empty it.  So, the job that was supposed to easy turned out to be something hard; this made him really impatient.  And really, I don't blame him.
But they were impressed that I have kept the house as clean as possible.  But the bathroom wasn't as clean as they expected.  I said I have been trying to keep things as tidy as possible by sweeping up, wiping down the counters and washing up as much as possible.  Mum told me a few home truths (which I can't put here as it's not right) and I said that I'm doing what I'd only do at home; she's pleased I'm keeping up with it all too.
By the time I did the World's Greatest Shave event at Redcliffe, and then had some lunch, Dad thought to have a shower and we wanted to have a cuppa... so we jumped in Mum's Pajero and I showed them Eclectea - the tea and coffee place I went to the other day.  Well!  They loved it.  It was full of stuff that Mum loved and Dad got in and remembered a lot of the things he used to see when he was young.  Then, the shop keeper turned around and remembered my name from my Facebook entry on their Facebook wall.  Mum was amazed the lady remembered so many people.  We got a coffee going and something to eat and sat outside in the nice cool breezes and drank our our coffees... it was lovely.  And seeing we were the last customers for the day, the owner got to kick back a little and talk to us too.  She loved my hair (as I hadn't washed the colour out yet) and she thought it was a good cause to support.

But today is going to be a hot one.  So, I'll be just kicking back here and enjoying my Sunday.  I've read the paper and had breakfast.  Might just surf the net and hang out and do nothing in particular... yep, that sounds good.  What are you up to on this St. Patrick's Day?  Until my next post, take care, keep safe and warm and remember, I'm always here.

Morning Walk and Great Coffee

Today - this morning - I made a plan.  I wanted to get a few chores done before I went out to a coffee place on Queens Parade.  Seeing I didn't know how far away it was, I thought to get in and do my chores, pack my bag and make sure I had enough money to get home by bus.
Well, by around 9am, the chickens had been fed, their laying box was turned the right way up - with hay in it - and I had swept the floors, washed up, put away anything I needed putting away and readied myself to go out.  My new Bean Pole bag had a broken clip on it, so I taped that up and it worked well (for now) and I grabbed my sun umbrella and was out the door after I turned off the radio and locked up the house.

The walk to Eclectea Vintage Tea Shop was lovely; long, but still lovely.  Queens Parade is a long, flat road that comes off Nathan Street and it's full of WWII  homes that have been looked after well.  They're small, pretty little houses with tiled roofs and picture-perfect front gardens and medium-sized fences that line a busy road.  Back in the years they were built, this road would have been a quiet little street full of families during the war.  Now, it's an old area full of families but they're renovating the houses to either look bigger or keep them looking the same as they did when they were in their heyday.

I soon arrived at the corner crammed full of shops - from a butcher, dog-groomer, hair-dresser, organic juice shop and then, the massive store of Eclectea which took the whole corner up as its own.  When I first walked in, I thought the place was two separate entities; but I was mistaken as people walked through to the coffee house section and were greeted by the owners by name.  Their faces lit up when I walked up with a vinyl I had found in their collection - and wanted - as I was a new customer.  I asked for an ice coffee and they recommended a bottled one without a label called 'Cleanskins'.  I was curious at how good it was and so tried it out at their recommendation.  I looked around and wondered where to sit; and thought to grab a seat outside... where I could see the world go by for a while.
The tables and chairs were all vintage living room furniture and everyone who arrived and had their morning brew lounged around happily taking in the morning sun and the nice cool breeze as they watched the traffic zip by.  Here within the boundaries of the coffee house, time seemed to stand still or slow down.  Everyone didn't want to leave; and we weren't encouraged to either, which is a good thing.  It made me feel good that I wasn't rushed away by anyone to make more room, or forced to order more just so I could stay longer... and isn't that nice when you're allowed to kick back and enjoy a place just because you want to?
Well, I went back inside to return the bottle to the owners and found a lovely two-tone teapot hiding behind a sign.  I asked how much it was to buy and it was a good reasonable price of $10.  So, I bought not only that but some munchies for my folks too when they come to visit tomorrow and mow the lawn.  I'm looking forward to seeing them.

So, that was my morning walk.  I totally enjoyed it.  What have you been up to lately which has been noteworthy?  Until my next post, take care, keep safe and warm/cool and remember, I'm always here.

Lazy Hazy Sunday

It's a lazy Sunday... lazy indeed.  I've done virtually nothing all morning but be on here since around 9am.  However, I've been up and about since 7am doing chores and walking up to the shop to get a paper that I never returned home with. Silly me, I forgot my $2.00 to buy it.  Oh well, never mind.  I know roughly what's on the tv by channel surfing.

On the way home, I ran into a young woman who had two Labradors - one golden and one chocolate.  Both these dogs were still in the puppy stage and not fully trained.  While she was trying to text somebody, they spotted me and nearly tripped her up!  Talk about funny.  I did her a favour and patted the dogs while she stood there and texted whoever she needed to so the two didn't wrap the leads around her or take her for an unexpected run somewhere.  They were the friendliest dogs around... unlike the one I came across on the way to the shops.
That one was a large dog, heavily built with a muzzel around his mouth.  The owner pulled the lead short quickly on approaching me and held the dog close as we exchanged greetings.  And as he passed, the dog was clearly not pleased with me being that close as he growled at me.  I wasn't worried; as dogs normally don't worry me if they're controlled like that.

Well, once back at the house, I was on chicken feeding duties.  The girls were so excited to see me with their corn and lettuce... and then I gave them feed and checked the coup where they overturned the laying box (again!).
Then, it was my turn to eat.  I opened the blinds and turned on the radio and didn't want to make a mess this morning.  So, I just ate my muesli and listened to the radio for an hour before jumping online to upload some photos.

Otherwise, it's just gone midday and I'm happy to say, today it going to be a day of doing nothing much. Yep, a lazy Sunday it's going to be... nothin' like one of those, eh?  I have done a few things around the place, like sweeping up the paths and tidying up the dirt the chickens throw around he place.  Since it's turned out to be a nice day, I've got in and done that with a broom and the rake... so the garden looks nice and tidy now, while the chickens looked on in wrapped interest of where they'll dig up next this afternoon.

As for me?  I'll probably be either painting or reading.  It all depends on what I feel like doing.  I have to also do a shopping list for this Wednesday to get myself into Sandgate Township and back... that will be yet another adventure to talk about.  Until my next post, take care, keep safe and warm/cool and remember, I'm always here.

Busyness of My Week

This week has started out rainy and is going to stay that way unfortunately.  This means, I'm going to have to get around with my groceries damp and everything else damp too.  It's going to be a week of trying to keep everything I can dry... not an easy task.  However, I do manage to do it.

Yesterday, I was off to my Queen Beez Craft Group at Springwood where I tried to sell my Crafty Pegs at $10 a dozen.  The ladies there loved how pretty they were but couldn't even think of putting them outside to hold their clothes; because of their beauty.  So, I didn't sell any.
Today, I posted off 3 dozen in the mail across town to a lady who bought some off me.  I'm so happy they're selling.  Those 3 dozen are going to a house warming this Saturday; and so, I hope they work out and the people like them, and word gets around about my pegs.

Tomorrow, I've got my grocery shopping to do.  It'll be a quick shop for me as I'm only going to be getting half the things I normally get and paying off twice as much as I normally would at Woodys' Music.  I was going to buy myself new pillows for the bed, but thought it would be best if I left that for next month or so when the weather clears up and it's not raining.
Anyway, that leads me to Thursday where I'll be at Garden City in the morning, then traveling to the Logan Art Gallery to see if I can get my Crafty Pegs in the store there.  If not, well, that's okay, I'll sell them online or at the Butter Factory, where there's a craft store there; but I'd like them where I can get to the store easily.

Friday will be my only free day this week where I can get in and do my washing, vacuuming and cleaning up on that day.  Then, it'll be a matter of packing away things to tidy for the weekend of painting - seeing the weather is going to stick around for a while.

So, how is your week looking?  Is the weather where you are wet and flooding, like here in Brisbane?  Or have you got other weather which is just as bad?  Until my next post, take care, keep warm/cool and remember, I'm always here.
