It's mid-Winter and Mid-School Holidays and the dull, cold clouds have parted to give us some lovely warm sunny weather - for once. And for once, everyone's got their laundry out on their lines nice'n'early; despite the cool start. Me? I had all my bath towel, t-towels and hand-washing done and on the line by 10am... and in between the loads, I was eating breakfast, washing up and making sure Little Miss Stevie was warm enough. Sometimes the Winter sun may seem warm to us, but not to budgies.
Well, since then, a few hours have passed and it's still lovely outside. I've yet to read the paper. Yeah, I read a little while eating my porridge but I didn't really absorb anything from it as I was still running around getting the laundry out. And by the time I finished that, all I really wanted to do was come on here and stuff around on the net for a while... and I've done just that.
My hands are now cold and I'm almost ready to get in and have a nice hot shower just to warm up. Then, there's lunch and washing up to do (not that I didn't get into that while I was cooking the porridge) but it needs to be done.
Yesterday, I socialised with the neighbours in the afternoon. It was too nice to be sitting on my own outside the unit reading. So, I chatted about all kinds of things with them. It's good to get to know who you're living with; even if you're only on a 'hello' only basis. And the new neighbours a few doors down are lovely people who are from Bundaberg; and the men living in the unit had relatives visiting from there too. They said that Brissie put on the sunshine that day; and were hoping for a good day today as well. And looking outside, I'm pleased the sun came out today because I really do want to get back out into it again before it begins to rain again.
Also yesterday, I tidied up the lounge room; thinking Dad was going to drop around to see me about some fuel vouchers (these can be taken off your shopping dockets if you spend over $30 at Coles or Woolworths). Well, I waited all day for him to arrive; and by 2pm, I called the house and Mum answered. I told her what Dad had arranged and she said that he had been busy all day my Uncle. So, she said she'd drop by and pick them up for him. When we met up out the front, I told her that I had tidied up the lounge room and all and she laughed saying that he would have liked that and it was a pity he didn't see it. I said that the place is beginning to look good now; reasonable enough that I can put things in their place people can come over.
So, the Big Tidy-Up is paying off. All I need to do now is work on the kitchen table and the whole place will look good; seeing the lounge doesn't take that long to keep tidy.
