Busy Around Home

Today it's been a busy one.  Windy and busy.  I was up very early and had a nice shower before breakfast to cool off as it was beginning to get hot at around 7:30am.  Once downstairs, I opened up, fed the pets and put on the first load of laundry then ate breakfast.  The day was going to be a hot and sunny one.
Before long, the second load was put out and then the third and I had watered all the plants outside and I was on my way to the post office to check the mail, send off a bit of mail and pick up some milk at the service station on the way home.  While checking the mail, I found I only had one piece and that was a parcel pick-up card; and it was something from the UK.  I opened it while I was paying for my mail to be sent off; and found a lovely Bookcrosser had sent me a copy of 'The God Delusion' by Richard Dawkins.  This is my second copy of this book I've received as I have already gotten a copy of it from my Birthday Buddy.  So, I might do something else with this one; but I'm not quite sure what yet.

Anyway, I arrived home, made my milk drink and jumped on the net for a little while to check my mail on here.  Then, surfed for a while and tried to get the hard drive out of the old computer - without success.  So, I've asked if Dad could come over and help me with it.  He said he would this afternoon sometime.  I think it might be tomorrow; but I don't mind, it'd be good to just get it happening and have his help with it.  I really want my iPod working again.  And the way to do that is to get my original library off my old hard drive and install it into my new computer.  This has got to be the most fiddly and dumbest thing Apple has done to the public.  And why they thought this was a good thing is beyond me!  They don't tell you anything about this; and you don't know anything about it until your computer breaks and you find you've got nothing to work with.  And then, when that does happen, you get locked out of iTunes and you can't get to the manual you need to find out what is going on with your iPod.  Pretty stupid of them... even when you take your Apple device into one of their stores, they don't realise you get locked out of iTunes and the manual either.  It would pay to have a basics manual inside the box with your device because, until you're a member of iTunes and the Apple Family, you can't get into their online manual, which tells you that your old computer shouldn't be thrown out until you transfer your old material/data of their from it onto your new computer.

Well, it's now around 2:30pm and just before jumping back on here to look for a place to fix my two manual typewriters, I paid my phone bill, tried on my dress I'm wearing to the Melbourne Cup Luncheon at 'Limelight' at Logan Central, finished up some handwashing, put away all my Halloween decorations - until next year.  And then, I thought to make some ice tea, but I needed to defrost a lime, so I'll be making the tea tonight for tomorrow and Sunday, when it get really hot.
I've also sat down and thought about what really needed doing in the next six months or soThis is so I can budget for expenses around here.  I pulled out my two manual typewriters and found that one needs a new ribbon while the other needs a full-on repair and service to get it anywhere near working order again.  The good thing about the really old one is that it's all in one piece, the case is still with it and it's just jammed up with gunk and needs a lot of TLC.  My other one - which Grandma gave me - still works well; even if it does jump over words once in a while when I type really fast.  I found somebody online who is over at Rochedale, but he hasn't called me back yet on what the go is about the old typewriter - or even if he fixes them.  I may not be able to fix it and might have to offer it up to somebody who is a collector or learn to fix it myself.... now wouldn't that be fun?

Well, I've yet to pull in my last load of laundry - just handwashing - as it all flaps and wraps itself around the clothes lines in the sea breeze.  The day is cooling off nicely too.  Dad hasn't come over yet, but as I said, I'm in no rush today.  He could come over tomorrow.  But I think there's some racing on he wants to catch.  My hands are killing me for some reason - I think there's a storm coming or at the very least rain - and so I've been putting up with aching joints for the last few days.  Tonight, I might make a pizza and watch a movie on dvd - I'm not sure yet.  Until my next post, take care, keep safe and warm and remember, I'm always here.

  1. You have a good plan of making the Best Pizza in Melbourne. I think you must go ahead and enjoy the movie with the yummy taste of pizza.

    1. Actually, I have been looking around for the ribbon and have only found out that - not only are typewriters not made anymore - but the ribbons aren't either. So, I may have to buy ink and re-ink the ribbon myself.
